• Alert:

Quick reminder: Students who attend in-person learning will receive a breakfast and lunch meal before they leave school on Friday afternoon. The meals are for Monday’s virtual learning day so there is less food deficiency throughout the county.

In addition, TCSS buses will be rolling into communities Monday to distribute meals for kids 18 and younger. There will be enough meals for five days. Those receiving meals do not have to be TCSS students. Meals are available to each young person in the community. The bus route delivery sites are available here.

Important Updates for CMS

Phase II

First, on behalf of all Callaway Middle School staff, we want to send our warmest thoughts and prayers to every student and their families during this unprecedented time. The school year did not turn out how we planned it, but we still have a lot to celebrate!

Now that Spring Break is over, we wanted to share a few updates:

1.  Beginning Monday, April 20th, the Troup County School System will begin distributing meals on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday only. The meal pick-ups will be available at our school drive-thru locations sites from 11:00 am – 12:00 noon.  Callaway Elementary will have drive-thru service at Callaway Middle. Long Cane Elementary will have drive-thru service at Long Cane Middle. Parents do not have to go to CMS for meal distribution, parents can go to the school closest to their location. Those who pick up on Monday will receive meals for Monday and Tuesday. Those picking up on Wednesday, will receive meals for Wednesday and Thursday. Those picking up on Friday will receive meals for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

2. As per district guidelines, TCSS is now entering Phase III of curriculum rollout which focuses on grade repair opportunities. Students have the opportunity for grade repair ONLY in year long classes or classes that were active in Term 3. For year long classes, grade replacement can take place in Term 1, 2 or 3. Below is a list of classes where grade replacement applies:

3. Teachers will post assignments aligned to the state standards in their Google Classrooms that can be completed for replacement grades. Packets and/or other assignments completed prior to Spring Break may also be used for replacement grades in their appropriate content areas.

4. Final grades will be calculated using Semester 1 Average (Term 1 and Term 2) and Term 3 average.

5. Grades for Honors Day will be pulled on May 1st to give ample time to review grades, attendance, and awards. Students should turn in work for replacement grades by April 29th in order to be factored into grades for Honors Day. We will not have a traditional Honors Day. However, CMS will publish a list of these students on our website and via our social media platforms. Additionally, CMS will post a virtual Honors Day. Look for more information during the month of May.

6. ALL academic work for the year must be completed and finalized by Friday, May 15th. Therefore, students must turn in any replacement assignments for grading by Wednesday, May 13th.

7. If you or your child have any questions, please contact any of your child’s teachers. We will make sure to get your concerns addressed. Email addresses can be found through Infinite Campus and the school website.
