Samuel Washington, son of Christy and Joshua Washington, has been selected as a member of State School Superintendent Richard Woods’ 2019-2020 Student Advisory Council. According to the Superintendent’s office, more than 1,000 applications were received, and Samuel was one of 130 middle and high school students selected to serve on the council.
Student Advisory Council members will meet with Superintendent Woods to discuss the impact of state policies in the classroom, along with other issues related to education, and will serve as the Superintendent’s ambassadors to their respective schools. Members will also engage in community service projects to benefit Georgia students and schools.
“My Student Advisory Council is a key part of my decision-making as I lead Georgia’s K-12 public education system,” State School Superintendent Richard Woods said. “We make better policy choices when we’re connected with those we serve. I deeply value these students’ input and involvement.”
Samuel is an eighth-grade student at Callaway Middle School. He states with a smile that his favorite subject is math. When Samuel graduates, he hopes to be an entrepreneur and open his own exotic pet business. Congratulations to Samuel Washington on the honor of selection as a Student Advisory Council member!
