• Alert:

Quick reminder: Students who attend in-person learning will receive a breakfast and lunch meal before they leave school on Friday afternoon. The meals are for Monday’s virtual learning day so there is less food deficiency throughout the county.

In addition, TCSS buses will be rolling into communities Monday to distribute meals for kids 18 and younger. There will be enough meals for five days. Those receiving meals do not have to be TCSS students. Meals are available to each young person in the community. The bus route delivery sites are available here.

09/25/20: TCSS Information Technology Department to Issue New Power Cords

Recently, the Troup County School System (TCSS) Information Technology department received reports that certain Dell power cords issued after July 2020 have been separating from the plug and emitting a spark near the outlet plug and the device charger. Out of an abundance of caution and safety for their students and employees, the school system will be replacing defective power cords beginning Saturday (tomorrow) at 9:00 a.m.

TCSS will begin replacing a limited number of power cords on Saturday, September 26, 2020 from 9 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (noon). To obtain a new power cord, parents and students can come to 100 North Davis Rd., Building A (up the hill by the TCSS Bus Shop) and return the old power cord. They will then be issued a new power cord. TCSS is working with their supplier for the remaining shipment to be sent early next week.

Any student having power cord and/or charger issues will be given additional time to complete work from the virtual learning day.

FREE Breakfast & Lunch, plus... School - Family Compact -- Updated!

Callaway Middle School is pleased to remind parents that all CMS students currently are eligible to receive a free breakfast and a free lunch. Your in-person student only needs to arrive at the apppropriate meal time and input their student ID number.

Further, TCSS schools are distributing meals via bus routes every Monday between 9:30 and 11:30.  Some of these routes will be located in areas zoned for our school.  All meals are free and will contain 5 days of breakfast and lunch meals.

Any child under the age of 18 will be able to receive these meals.  This is especially beneficial for parents with toddlers.  Parents just need to be at the bus stop during the times listed to receive a meal.

See the attachment here for bus routes and times.

Also, please view our updated School - Family Compact, along with the concurrent cover letter, in the Parents section of our website. We are proud of the wonderful team that we have working to connect families and schools -- find out how to be a part!

09/18/20: TCSS Board Approves Two Virtual Days for All Students virtual learning

The two days are:

Members of the Board voted to approve two virtual days for all students after the recommendation from Dr. Brian Shumate, TCSS Superintendent, came Monday night. He said, “We have heard from educators who simultaneously teach students in-person and virtually. These two days will allow them an opportunity to catch up on student assignments and lesson planning while also learning more about Canvas to better help students and parents.”

Official CMS Virtual Instruction Schedule CMS Master Virtual Schedule

Attached is the official CMS Virtual Instruction Schedule. As a parent of a virtual student, it is most helpful for me to plan the week ahead of time so my student knows when to get online. Other than the live session, work is more flexible, and they can work up to deadlines on their own timetable. Let us know if you have any questions by emailing askcms@troup.org.
